It’s tough to beat the sunny skies and warm weather in southern California when it comes to boating. With such a welcoming climate, it’s no wonder that boaters come from other states to enjoy boating along the California coastline. If you’re looking for a new place to go boating in the Golden State, check out some of these great destinations.

Newport Beach

Right here in Orange County, we’ve got one of the best boating destinations around at Newport Beach. This stretch of coastline spans three miles and it offers you gorgeous views and lots of options for entertainment. Check out the wonders of the Balboa Fun Zone or choose a dine-and-dock restaurant to enjoy a gourmet meal while your boat is safely moored outside.

Oceanside

Located in San Diego County as part of the tri-city region that includes Carlsbad and Vista, Oceanside is a popular watersports, fishing, and recreational boating destination. Built in 1888, the Oceanside Pier is one of the longest wooden piers in the country. You can explore local history at the California Surf Museum before you head out wakesurfing on your boat, or you can simply drop your line in the water and catch something delicious for dinner.

Marina Del Rey

The core of Los Angeles’ boating scene is Marina Del Rey, which has an impressive 6,000 slips for small boats. You can visit the oceanfront shopping district of Fisherman’s Village or try one of the dozens of dining options for lunch or dinner. Marina Del Rey also offers plenty of great events, including the Marina Del Rey Holiday Boat Parade and the Summer Concert series.
